Mindfulness
Malta is together with Michelle Bartolo (yoga teacher) arranging a
one-week mindfulness and yoga retreat in Gozo from the 24th June to 1st
July.
"Our
minds are often busy analyzing, judging, planning and problem solving.
We call this the 'autopilot mode' of being. When you practice yoga and
mindfulness you learn to register when you are on autopilot and how to
switch it off. You let go of thoughts and emotions
and instead tune your attention in on the present moment," says Anne
Hamarsnes, a clinical psychologist who also runs weekly classes held in
Gzira.
Apart
from the physical gains, the practice can help you prevent stress,
anxiety and depressions. It also teaches you how to deal with physical
pain and other illnesses more effectively.
